Who We Are

At Norris Performance Horses and German Shepherd Dogs we are focused on providing  good quality horses and dogs.

Hi, I'm Charlee Norris, I grew up on horses in SE Washington. Luckily, my parents couldn't afford made horses so I rode whatever would stand still long enough for me to up climb on. While I didn't have made horses I did have access to great instructors and was a  member of U.S. Pony Club (C2 Rating), 4H and FFA. In my early riding I was focused on the english sports, jumping, eventing, and some dressage (cause you gotta do it for eventing). During high school I began riding with some local drill teams and discovered Barrel Racing (insert angels singing here). Besides riding outside horses I was exercising both TBs and QHs at the local track. After graduation I spent the summer riding at XXXXX track in Montana and XXXXX track in Canada. I attended Walla Walla Community College and was a member of the Rodeo team and finished college at South Dakota State University at Brookings where I was also on the rodeo team. After graduating SDSU I went to work at the Lazy E ranch in Guthrie, OK. I was lucky enough to work in each of the internships over the next 18 months which gave me skills in breeding, foaling, weaning and training some of the most expensive QH racing horses in the U.S..

Following my dreams of barrel racing I went to work for the Jud Little ranch in Ardmore, OK where I was driver, assistant and jockey for Bennette Barrington Little in 2012, the last year she qualified for the NFR.

Deciding it was time for me to work on my own dreams of the NFR I returned to the Lazy E where I worked in the ??? weanling barn. My horses were boarded down the road from the E at the Cross Tie ranch. I was able to ride a few of their horses that didn't make it in the reining ring in the barrel pen.

My break-out horse was a little brown mare named Compromising Levi's. I picked her up in a trade as a 2yo and hauled her around. As I was on the road I bred her to Judd Little's stud Doc O Mister Hawk. After she gave me a nice gelding I began hauling her to barrel races, where she began winning. As any young trainer learns, you have to let the good ones go to get your name out there so she was sold her a nation high school rodeo family and today she is competing and winning with her new owner in Texas. We have been very lucky to have been able to follow our dreams riding, training and selling horses.

My varied experience has given me many tools to use as I work with each individual horse and each horse I ride teaches me something new.
